Why you say goodbye, I say hello.

oh hello.  Welcome to the Sarah Thompson Blog.  What?  You totally forgot about me?  Well start remembering, friend because I am back.  And I've got a blog or three saved up for ya.

Mini-blog 1:
My husband got a blue chord.

This is my husband in his super cute uniform.  Look how cute and... umm... uniformey?
This is what we looked like after the ceremony (we were inside so Matt didn't have to wear his "cover" meaning a hat.  Which I am totally okay with, because I am anti-berret).  Matt's blue chord (which I know you're all wondering about) is apparently coveted.  Because it means he is in the infantry.  And everybody wants to be in the infantry.  Because only the coolest kids actually come in and take the field.

You stay classy, Military.

Mini-blog #2:
Normal-sized blog to follow, but my mom came into town.  *sigh*  I love my mom.  And I love Savannah even more when there are more people to share it with.  I mean, I am awesome all by myself (and I think I have a better time than most while vacationing alone) but there's something about "people."

Another good thing about my mom visiting is that we were happy to spend most of our time, money and energy on REALLY teriffic food.  Like cinnamon rolls like these

in places like this

But my question is: how did they make things on this trip taste sweet without being overboard?  Both the above roll and the pralines we had (via sample) were that amazing and elusive blend of "this has sugar in it" without it becoming "I have a headache now."

MAGICAL, I tell you!

Mini-blog #3.

I got a horrible hair cut.  I walk into this VERY nice hair salon.  It's an Aveda spa, and you walk in and put on a black drape.  Very ala a spa. So far, so good.  I'm seeing a girl who has come recomended to me by not one but TWO people, and am confident in my hair cut of choice.  "I want a trim, some highlights and some swoopy bangs."  That doesn't sound hard.   highlights?  CHECK!  ... and that's it.

Let's start with the bangs.

I have wings.  UNDERBANG-wings.  In fact, here is a picture of said bangs.

Did you notice they aren't even the same length?

I did...

Now let's talk about the length.  Granted, I did tell her to take an inch or maybe two off to get it healthy.

This picture is after my hair cut, and where my hand is holds one of my hair clumps that WASN'T CUT...

which is reason the first that I went back.

Yup, I went back and made them re-cut my whole hair.  Because the bangs weren't the same length and some clumps of my hair were longer than others (and not in an awesome stylish way).  I went back and talked to the manager and demanded that my hair become all one length along the bottom and if I have wings, they are the same length.

Insert another hair cut.

*sigh*  and just when I was finally growing my hair super long.

Ooh, and did I mention I've never (ever) paid more for a haircut?

This is me... post BOTH hair cuts.  At least it's even, and I've learned something.

Let us learn from this experience a new and valuable lesson.  Paying a lot does not equal a great haircut.  (this is, seriously, news to me.)

Alright, friends.  Keep watching all week as I unveil actual blogs that I've already written (at least part of) but just need to compile pictures to.  As a few previews, here are some things I'll be blogging about.
- a lizard condo
- the best fried chicken I've ever eaten
- whatever starts to bug me this week.

And we all know how the "this bugs me" blogs are really the best blogs.  (because Sarah complaining makes everyone happy.... RIGHT?)

Just so you know, Lola has a similar technique. So, if you ever feel like getting another crappy haircut, feel free to give her a call. I am sorry that woman made a mess of your hair :( I think it looks really good now.

I HATE bad haircuts. I'm super picky too. Good for you for going back and making them re-cut it. Oh and I'm thinking about going to Savannah with Ben because apparently it's the bees knees!

I'm totally following you now, but I feel you on the haircut. I had the SAME thing happen the last time I went in-and I've been going to this gal for almost two years without a problem. Maybe it's an Aveda thing...but I hope not. I love Aveda.

Sarah,

I just discovered your blog! Yay! I'm sorry about your bad haircut. That happened to me once and I had to cut my hair super short. Your recovery looks great though!

I'll be honest, i've never paid more than $20 for a cut...including tip, excluding color. Why? Because I know way too many poeple who have this same story... awesome expensive salon--bad bad haircut. Half the time, I just do it myself. Lame? probably, but I figure if I royally screw up THEN I can pay major bucks to fix it.
