Old at 27.

Apparently some people are really into blogging. My friend Kim, she loves it. And in a strange, quasi-internet-stalker way, she reads people's blogs. I think that's cool. (Tangent: isn't it strange that reading information that people put on the internet TO BE READ can make you feel like you're stalking them?) So, Kim, this blog's for you.

Last Saturday I went to a "better than a nine-year" reunion (and, yes, for those of you counting, I have been out of high school for 9 years), which was also called "The Good Doctor." It was my high school drama teacher's retirement and many people from "crushes on gay men past" were there, and people from every year of drama since the begining of Tuckness. It was hilarious. Also, about the most fun I've had in a long time.

Let me take a moment to talk about my favorite moment of the night. After the play (which was good, with a few excellent parts, but mostly just good) I was hanging out with people I haven't seen in 10 years (some of them) and... Jon McBride. In high school Jon did this funny trick where, in the arts hall (because it's a bit more narrow than the others) he can curl-up in a ball, push himself to the other wall, and go back. He looks like a fish flopping around. And on Saturday, after a small amount of coercian and Carly doing the Carly dance, he agreed to do it for us again. HILARIOUS. Plus, there was Brooke standing next to me who was yelling "this isn't fast enough! You used to be faster." (and, for the record, this was true) Then Jon, after flopping back and forth a few times, got up from the floor and started to complain about how he must be old because now his back hurts. OOOH the JOYS of feeling old... at 27.

It's interesting to feel old at 27. Although, for the record, I can distinctly remember feeling old in college after I'd just cut my hair. On one hand, I feel like I'm 22 - I take better care of myself than I did then (actually own a gym membership and don't eat ice cream for at least 3 meals a week). I'm thinner than I was then, and I am supremely more awesome than I ever was at 22. On the other hand, I feel old - most people at the reunion were married... with kids. Even the really dorky people you kindof always look at and think "huh, I wonder who they'll marry..." they all got married. And to cute-looking people. Which makes me sometimes feel like all the guys my age are dating 20 year olds (you know it's true, I've TALKED to you about it...) and my Gran was right - I've missed the window to get married.

So I guess it doesn't matter what I do now. I guess now I'm in this world to have fun. And if a few random guys get kissed along the way - so much the better. Because 27... it can't be that old.

chocolate covered peanuts and roasted cashews

for those interested, I like neither of the above foods, but it's from a song I quite adore (Katie Thompson - bless you).
It's been a rough... quarter. My roommate has broken up with me. I've been told I might have cancer (and then I didn't). My back has been hurt. I've lost my apartment and my independance. I've lost a job. I've lost hope. And I've lost the person in my life who knew everything about me and has been my best friend for the last year and a half. If you were holding stocks in the corporation of The S Timms, you just lost a lot of cash because stocks are down.
and although I've been having a mostly (incredibly) positive attitude, I need just a moment to take an asside.

Life sometimes sucks, friends. I mean, for the most part we all know it doesn't. But every once and again I think it's okay to say "dudes, this isn't my day/month/quarter."

But, rest assured, next quarter's projected earnings will skyrocket. (right, Karma?)
